All aboard! Conway Scenic Railroad, close to our vacation rentals, will take you on a trip back in time surrounded by that natural beauty of the Mount Washington Valley. The railroad has three routes, which change depending on the time of year:
The trips all depart from North Conway Village, passing through ravines, rivers, and mountain views. You’ll be taking in the views from the trains’ vintage 1920s passenger cars. The refined days of train travel are brought to life with their on-train dining, available on both Valley Trains, and the first-class section of the Notch Train. Each train has a special menu to order off—check out their menus online.
The two Valley trains (to Bartlett and to Conway), are ideal for families, as they offer a shorter trip. Young train lovers will enjoy the vintage locomotive itself, and the valley views whirring by. These trips pass through the valley, which means the mountains remain in the distance. You’ll pass through farmlands, fields, and woodlands. At the end of the trip, watch the powerful locomotive run around the train for the return trip!

The Notch Train travels through what was once a line of the Maine Central Railroad, along tracks that were originally laid in 1870. The route runs through a mountain pass, weaving past cliff faces, ravine drop offs, rivers, brooks, and streams, and of course, sweeping views the whole way. The route includes live commentary to truly bring the beauty and history to life.
This route has a number of seating options, including an Upper Dome section with open, unencumbered views through the glass ceiling! First class packages include food options, whether it be in the dining room or box lunches.
